Metalwork
Indigo Steel
Cold-rolled steel provides the structural spine for our larger installations. Finished with a proprietary indigo-oxidation process, it offers a deep, matte tone that complements raw masonry.

Cast Masonry
For surfaces requiring thermal mass or chemical resistance, we utilize cast masonry and honed stone slabs. These materials ground a piece, providing a physical weight that anchors the room.

Structural Integrity
The Invisible Logic of Bespoke Joinery.
We do not use fasteners that compromise the material grain. Every joint in a Nord Contemporary piece is a structural section drawing made manifest—wedged tenons, sliding dovetails, and mortise-and-tenon connections that rely on gravity and friction rather than chemical bonding.
This methodology allows for natural seasonal movement in the timber, preventing the splitting and warping that plagues mass-produced alternatives. It is a commitment to the physics of the material.

Our Method
From Light-Map to Integration.
We maintain strict boundaries in our process to ensure the highest standard of technical accuracy. We do not provide speculative renderings without a site visit.

Site Assessment
Physical walkthrough and light-mapping of the existing environment to understand structural constraints and morning/evening light patterns.

Technical Drafting
Creation of detailed architectural section drawings and material palettes that respect the building's structural geometry.

Køge Fabrication
Coordination with our regional workshop. Our furniture is assembled by hand using traditional Danish joinery techniques.

On-site installation by the same craftsmen who built the piece, ensuring a seamless structural fit into the architecture.
Technical Standards
Fabrication Specifics.
All our solid oak and ash are kiln-dried and then seasoned in our Køge workshop for a minimum of 6 months to reach a stable moisture content of 8-10%. This is critical for the stability of bespoke pieces in climate-controlled Nordic interiors.
We exclusively use zero-VOC hard-wax oils and soap treatments. These finishes do not create a plastic-like film over the wood; they saturate the grain, allowing the wood to breathe and age naturally. Maintenance kits are provided with every commissioned piece.
Bespoke commissions typically require 12 to 16 weeks from technical approval to final installation. This timeline ensures adequate material preparation and hand-finishing stages that cannot be accelerated without compromising structural logic.
